I was so impressed by this story of a Hutu businessman who opened Hotel Rwanda. Paul Rusesabagina is the Hutu who runs the hotel with his Tutsi wife. Paul allows refugees to take refuge in his hotel. Because of this, he often gets very upset when he discovers that one of his employees is a Tutsi. His wife is also a Tutsi, so Paul struggles to protect her.

The movie was directed by Terry George and is a family-political drama about the genocide in Rwanda. Don Cheadle plays Paul Rusesabagina, an ethnic Hutu hotel manager who saved the lives of more than 1,200 people. The film has been controversial due to the way it portrays the historical figures. Don Cheadle and Sophie Okonedo star. This movie has earned great reviews from critics. But you need to be prepared to learn more about this movie and the characters in it.

The film is based on true events in the Rwanda genocide. Col. Oliver, a representative for the United Nations in Rwanda, informs his superiors of the crisis and asks for intervention. Meanwhile, Paul Rusesabagina informs the corporate headquarters in Brussels, which is not concerned about the Hotel Rwanda. It is a case of "slippery slope."

As the violence escalates, Paul and Gregoire must try to protect themselves, care for the refugees, protect his family, and maintain the look of a luxurious four-star hotel. This situation forces Paul and Gregoire to negotiate with General Bizimungu in order to protect their lives and those of the refugees. In the process, they find themselves in an impossible situation: Paul has to divert Hutu soldiers to safe areas while keeping the hotel's appearance as a four-star hotel.

Rusesabagina, who inspired the movie, has been charged with nine terrorism-related crimes. His charges include murder as an act of terrorism, membership of a terrorist organization, and financing terrorism. Paul Rusesabagina gained fame after saving hundreds of Rwandans during the genocide. The story of Hotel Rwanda was made into a Hollywood film and has received numerous humanitarian awards. In 2005, Paul Rusesabagina was awarded the U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush.

Paul, a Hutu, is an accomplished hotelier who is married to a Tutsi. He was trained in Belgium, and is now running a four-star hotel in Kigali. He understands that even generals have briefcases full of bottles of good scotch, and he also knows that he has to pay bribes to get his guests imported beer. Paul understands that this is part of the culture, but he also understands that his hotel's guests expect luxury.
