To put into practice a given form of leadership, many persons in society require a particular kind of attention. However, as the populace airs its complaints, the varied methods of community leadership frequently create backlash. The context will be satisfied with the leadership strategy being used by the executives if it is believed that not all residents of that environment share that perception. As a result, it is necessary to prepare for any reaction from the general public on the procedures used to achieve particular objectives. These incidences are often ignited by the different kinds of cultures that are being practiced by the masses in that environ. However, Schein (2010, p. 3) states that the connection between culture and leadership is most apparent in organisational cultures and micro-cultures. These individuals have the mandate to delegate and offer direction in the ways that they are going to execute certain activities with the intentions of completing a particular milestone. Leaders are often found throughout the starts of the business organisation implementing their duties under different capacities (Bowerman and Van Wart 2014, p. 3). Different scholars suggest that unlike the concept of management, leadership cannot be taught, but learned and enhanced through the practices of mentoring and coaching. The majority of leaders in the corporate world have had numerous failures, but later attained their objective due to their continued passion and innovation levels in the activities that they execute in society. The paper will discuss the context of integrity levels in the current mode of leadership in society.

Leadership Models

The concept of a leadership model is often referred to as a theory on how an individual can govern employees. In most instances, these leadership models include organisational theories that offer suggestions on how employees generate a reaction to a command. Additionally, they also offer suggestions on the type of response of style that is most useful for leading a business. According to an interpretation by Smith and Cockburn (2013, p. 65), every leadership role is typically set relevant to a particular context and is often considered as a norm against which a person’s leadership abilities can be measured. One of the primary targets of integral leadership is to help the female population advance to senior positions in the business industry. As Shambaugh (2013, p. 13) further states, the concept of integral leadership is about the new ways of leading an organisation and conducting business. Nevertheless, the male population in society needs to realise the valuable role that they play and not only be a part of the conversations. They are also held with the responsibility to provide their leadership attributes and experiences to the female leaders (Shambaugh 2013, p. 17). The primary target of this move is to create a balance in the system and also generate integral teams in the industry.

The most common integral leadership models applied include contemplative, outcome-oriented, discerning, self-leader, and interdependent leadership. Despite the fact that the ideology of business ethics has various meanings to people, the ethical orientation of any leader is considered as an ideal factor in the process of promoting moral behaviours among the employees. Nevertheless, a number of senior leaders in companies have been subjected to public scrutiny, because their conduct has either been unethical or illegal (Noriega and Drew 2013, p. 35). Further, Noriega and Drew (2013, p. 37) also state that ethics plays an essential role in the attainment of success or failure in an organisation. Various countries will often call for distinct leadership styles based on the type of commodities that they often present in the market. For example, the majority of the Middle East countries have a very different approach to leadership compared to the Western nations. Despite President Trump providing Saudi Arabia with the plenipotentiary powers, as Mousavian (2018) publishes, it has engaged into a crisis in Yemen causing one of the greatest global humanitarian catastrophes with its brutal bombing campaigns. The practices demonstrated by the Saudi Arabia executive arm raise questions of integrity in the leadership models that are being implemented in the country.

Current Leaders

The current crop of leadership has divergent targets for their countries and the type of message that they want to offer to the globe. Some individuals are characterised by greed, autocracy, unethical, and non-democratic ways of leading their regions. According to an interpretation from various publishers, the mode of life by these leaders demonstrates a series of issue that is happening to the leaders. For example, as Skapinker (2017) states, Simone Veil and Kohl’s generation of power has a significant difference to the modern type of leadership. The current administration has no lacerating experience like the World War II that can permeate them with an understanding of the consequences of an institutional breakdown, ethnic, and racial hatred. The political scene and corporate world have varying personalities in the leadership helm as different strategies are being applied to achieve specific goals. The lengthy stay in power by these individuals has had a significant impact on the development aspects in comparison to other countries. For example, Zimbabwe has faced many problems in relation to their economy, individual’s welfare, and international relations because of the leadership that they have undergone.

The current type of problems that are affecting the public is linked to the leaders that are in the executive bodies. For instance, various strategies are being applied in these countries that hardly offer a solution to the problems that are affecting the masses. The limited leadership experience witnessed among these individuals has created a need for continuous levels of dependence from other parties making it hard to generate stability. In the long run, they concentrate on the practices of grabbing state funds and resources that could be of help to the public. The current leaders are also faced with the problem of recruiting personnel that will help the nation realise its goals in their regions of conducting business. The constant growth of incompetent administrators in the country leads to execution of unethical practices while in office. The former UN Secretary-General stated that when leaders fail to execute their duties, the public should take charge and the leaders will then have to follow. The persons that assume leadership positions need to be subjected to training programmes that will see them improve their ethics and also resort to innovative ways of finding solutions to the problems that are affecting the population. For instance, the use of green energy can help the nation save vast sums of money that may be channelled to other activities. The implementation of this action will assist in the reduction of problems that are affecting the nation.

Existence of Ethical Leadership

Ethical leadership still exists in society. However, some individuals do not possess these qualities when administering their duties to the employees. The organisations that are affected by these problems are subjected to change in the top administration with hopes of realising their targets in their operations. There are very few sections of the statute that are drafted to help fight the vice of unethical practices in society. For instance, a leader may use unpleasant words and left to walk unpunished despite the bitter comments that s/he is likely to receive from the public. On the other hand, the people that practice ethical leadership involve practices of empowering the public helping people have a chance to improve their skills. The aspect of using such means in the formulation of decisions often influences an employee’s attitude and interaction. Nevertheless, the concept of ethical leadership usually revolves around business practices that link the aspect of culture and business ethics.

Different ways need to be used to improve the ethical capacities of these leaders. The introduction of ethical role models in the industry can help in evaluating progress, hence initiating means of increasing production and efficiency. However, effective leadership should not be confused with the currently fashionable doctrine of passionate approach (Munro and Thanem, 2018, p. 52). The latter asserts that the leaders will be more successful in the practices of inspiring and motivating followers by being in touch with and leading through their passions. Instances of hardship to improve the concept of ethical leadership will affect the relationship between the workers and the employer. The concept is visible with the United States administration, as a different worker does not have a good relationship with the president. For example, an individual can witness the growing number of people that are resigning from their dockets, while others are having their contracts terminated for not complying with the directives provided by the president. According to a publication by Tao et al. (2017, p. 1711), abusive leadership such as the regular use of inductive words to pass a piece of information to the subordinates can be viewed as the opposite of the ethical one. In the United States, it is witnessed from the executive when the president uses harsh phrases to describe civilians and people of colour.

To a greater extent, unethical leadership dominates the current business and political scenes. The practices are linked to the context of dictatorship that the majority of these leaders display to their subordinates. Additionally, these organisations are staging numerous demonstrations to show their levels of dissatisfaction from their employers. In some instances, there are changes in the top management with the targets of attaining better leaders that will consider the worker’s demands. The latest instance was witnessed in Zimbabwe when the opposition stage an effective process of having President Mugabe resign from the presidency or have him face the ICC for crimes against humanity. The country will then have to seek new leadership teams in every ministry with the objective of having a new breed of leaders that will help meet the demands of the residents. However, it will prove a complicated process to recruit the right team to lead the various departments, since the nation has never witnessed a peaceful transition of power since independence.

Personalities in the Current Leadership

There are particular traits that an individual should possess to be a good leader in society. However, there is a certain characteristic that these persons display in society, but are still offered managerial positions by the public, hence increasing the number of immoral leaders in society. In the long run, this practice has affected a majority of the decisions that are being formulated by the persons that are assuming office forcing the vast majority to issue complaints regarding the ways that these people are conducting business. For example, Owens (2015) suggests that traits like honesty, openness, decisiveness, and conscientiousness have a significant impact on increasing levels of effectiveness in a leader. Furthermore, researchers suggest that some of them can help an individual ascend to leadership in their company, government, or school. The concept then leads to a conclusion that the procedure to the attainment of a major office position is attributed to the support that an individual receives from colleagues despite the fact that s/he may be immoral. The communities led by immoral people are often affected by inter-relation matters as the foreign communities find it challenging to jell with these cities. Extroversion is highly considered as the major predictor of leadership emergence and effectiveness (Lebowitz 2016).

Success in any organisation is attributed to the following that the employees provide to their leaders. Despite the fact that the leader may have a limited level of ethics, the attainment of the organisational goals will often lead the company to realise competitive advantage. These instances are observed with the leadership of Jeff Bezos and Larry Page, as their businesses are having vast levels of success. The employees’ determination while at their places of work can be used as a factor to outplay the employer’s immoral character. The public will often concentrate on the employer’s ability to guide the organisation to these levels of success with minimal attention paid to the job owner. Despite the fact that some of these companies often face criticisms from other leaders, they struggle to meet their operational goals outplaying the perceptions generated by the public. Leaders like Jeff Bezos and Larry Page will often strive to reach their targets despite the type of leadership that is being applied at their workstations. For example, Amazon is among the most successful acquirers in the tech industry, because Jeff Bezos leaves the majority of its acquisitions to operate independently (Gobry 2011).

Nevertheless, the cry for change in a region’s leadership is often based on the public’s persistence, support from external parties, and the leader’s ability to resist the forces raised by the mob. For instance, the factor of age with reference to President Robert Mugabe can be considered as a determinant of his resignation from office. He could not get out power the forces of the current generation that were not interested in his way of leadership and the country’s economic progression, public’s welfare, and international relation. On the other hand, President Trump still assumes office despite the aspect of the public questioning his morals and model of expressing his feelings towards a given incident. Issues of patience displayed by the Americans can be used a major weapon towards demand for change in Trump’s leadership. Integrity issues will be a major player in the aspect of the latter trying to retain his sit in the next election.

President Trump can be termed as an autocratic leader, which can be evident from his successful running of businesses. The workers are left with one option of meeting their targets to save their jobs. Therefore, the context of being a perfectionist has little connection to the issues of immorality that is being displayed by Donald Trump. He also wishes to implement a similar approach to leading the USA, but is constantly facing a revolt from the public who can hardly comply with his system of control. The use of adverse words has further ignited the issues of questioning his levels of ethics in leadership and considering an individual’s background and social status. The human rights’ activists will often strive for equality in society, and the leaders create an ideal strategy of leadership that will generate limited aspects of revolt from the society.

Leadership Theories

The dynamic changes that are being witnessed in society call for the need to improve the type of leadership that is being applied in the corporate and political scene. Technology is a major player in the aspect of delegating and directing the masses at these workstations. However, significant levels of success are witnessed in the centres that are using appropriate technology. Secondly, there is a need for the leaders to improve the mode of communication that is being used in passing information to their subordinates. The strategy will have a major impact in improving the levels of efficiency at the workstation. Therefore, these sentiments lead to the conclusion that the current global leadership theories are out-dated having limited relevance in management activities in these organisations. These evaluations can be generated from the management strategies that were being used in the past.

Individualism

The concept of individualism was often applied in the ancient years which may create difficulties in the attainment of current organisational goals. Therefore, there is a need to resort to teamwork to improve the quality of output that the employers will attain from the assigned duties. Additionally, the utilisation of teamwork will also help in saving the time that an individual would use to complete a given task. Despite the fact that the current administration should resort to the implementation of teamwork, there is a need to use qualified personnel in these institutions that will increase the chances of attaining competitive advantage. The instances of team participation may also entice the need to amalgamate with other firms that manufacture similar products. The leaders of these organisations will have to draft new leadership legislation that will favour both sets of employees creating limited chances of misunderstandings from the team. The implementation of this theory in the current corporate industry will help solidify the market base and also improve the level of customer loyalty that they can attain from the sale of their products. In the long run, the companies will share the operational risks as well as enhance the level of profits that were being generated in the ancient times when they ran single businesses.

Participative Leadership Theories

There is need to improve the level of participation that is implemented in these industries. The primary goal is to develop the method of the decision-making and drafting strategies that will help develop the level of output that a firm offers to the market. As the name suggests, the core value of the strategy is to encourage the input of the followers. The practice is often employed in societies that need creativity, as the leader still holds the ultimate power and always makes the final decision on the activities that are being implemented in the institution. Nevertheless, s/he also demonstrates the acts of collaboration with an ultimate goal of achieving their targets. The primary purpose of this strategy is that the followers are offered a significant level of degree or autonomy, while they are emotionally connected to their leader and the stated aims. The practice often led to significant level of success in the ancient times with an example derived from President Abraham Lincoln’s leadership and his accomplishments.

Behaviour and Situation Management

The inclusion of a leader’s behaviour has a significant role in improving the theories. The manager’s demeanour has a direct link to the employee’s response to the directives that are being provided by the former. For example, the use of a harsh approach without considering the subordinate’s feelings will affect the relationship between the two parties, hence influencing the output that employees provide while at work. On the other hand, situation management is another aspect of the process of updating the leadership theories. The different cultures that are witnessed in a workstation need a unique approach from the leader that will not generate an aspect of discrimination among the subordinates. They will have to show a high degree of equity in resolving certain problems at the work place creating an opportunity for the employees of a different background to act jointly.

The public perception is an additional factor to the aspect of updating the leadership theories applied in today’s organisations. People are considered as one of the beneficiaries of the leadership style that is being applied in their region. Nevertheless, an instance of dissatisfaction from the public created a hindrance to the aspect of updating the leadership style that is being implemented. They need to realise a particular level of consideration that these kinds of approaches offer to their mode of life. The failure to meet the current ways of living is affecting the trend of development that the leadership style should claim.

Leadership Operations

The best approach to evaluating leadership operations is during an organisational crisis interpreting the strategy that the leader uses in correcting the situation. An instance of success in resolving the issue relates to the stages that the leadership team used to have the stakeholders adapt to the new systems of operation. The best example of this situation is related to the Brazilian electrical sector with the body struggling to revive the sector and improve the energy supply chain in the city. According to a publication by Santos, Bandeira-de-Mello, and Cunha (2016, p. 95), the major challenges brought with the crisis were identified and analysed and later addressed through sense-making, meaning making, the decision-making, learning, and terminating. Furthermore, the process of mobilising the workers during such situation is a questionable practice, as it stretches the company to the limits with the presence of uncertainty and risks (Santos et al. 2016, p. 98).

Conclusion

There is a need to initiate change in the type of leadership that is being practiced in the current generation. The primary reason is to have leaders with a higher level of ethics and morals. In the long run, there will be limited instances of demonstrations staged by the masses. The paper has discussed the context of integrity levels in the current mode of leadership in society. The current leadership team is facing various problems affecting the mode of the decision-making and improving the level service delivery. To a greater extent, unethical leadership dominates the existing business and political scenes. The practices are linked to the context of dictatorship that the majority of these leaders display to their subordinates. The aspect of using ethical means in the formulation of decisions often influences an employee’s attitude and interaction. Nevertheless, the concept of such leadership often revolves around business practices that connect the aspect of culture and business ethics. However, the concept of success in any organisation is attributed to the following that the employees provide to their leaders. Despite the fact that the leader may have a limited level of ethics, the attainment of the organisational goals will often lead the company to realising competitive advantage.
