The author, Anne Rice, takes readers on a journey into the known world. She introduces us to a variety of characters and the themes that they will encounter. She also explores the role of a mother-child relationship and the power of women, particularly in slavery.

Slavery

Throughout the known world, slavery is an issue. It's prevalent on mainland and Thothia, and is also practiced on the islands of Bellissaria and Esterhold.

While the Liberty Pact, an Imperial title, is a notable first, it's not the only thing that's worthy of being mentioned. One of the most notable items in the Liberty Pact is the Voice of Liberty. This is an Imperial title that represents the Empire at meetings of the Liberty Pact.

Female characters

Adding a female character to your plot line isn't a bad idea, but it's best to go about it the right way. For instance, why use a male character as a stand-in for a female one? Why not add a few more women to the ensemble? A female main character can appeal to boys as well as girls.

The best female characters in literature are not only female, but also have a wide array of personality traits. For example, a female character may be a full-time parent, a badass warrior, or a DIY construction buff. The best female characters are often not quite as perfect as they appear to be.

The use of a digression also demonstrates that the protagonist is capable of handling himself and that he isn't the only one in the pack.

The best digressions are those that allow a reader to understand a character's personality, to the point where she isn't a complete mystery to the protagonist. The digression might also be the best way to show off a character's wits and charm. Digressions can also be used to reveal a character's sex or sexual preference. The use of a digression can also help a writer to craft a more thoughtful description of a character.
