Puerto Ricans are struggling for water after being flooded by Hurricane Maria, increasing the demand for water among American citizens. CNN found, based on what they mentioned in the post, that the government was pumping water from a hazardous waste site for one Rodriguez. The amount of clean water that they are providing is insufficient to meet the need and everyone is caught up in a situation where they badly need the product regardless of where it comes from. As a result, it is clear that in this dire situation, a factor of consumer desire and anticipation is not working (Clark, 2016). Population shifts may also have caused the demand for water among American Citizens. CNN discovered from what they reported in the article that the government was pumping water for one Rodriguez from a hazardous waste site. The amount of water that is clean that they are getting is not enough to cater for the demand that is there since everyone is caught up in a scene where they desperately require the commodity no caring where it is from. Therefore, it is evident that a factor of customer preference and expectation is not working in this desperate situation (Clark, 2016).
Population shifts may also have caused the demand for water to rise for Puerto Ricans. If the population for the state was minimal meaning that the citizens would have saved up for the commodity and would not have had a problem when being supplied with water. Consequently, the high settlement in that geographic region has brought about the shift in demand for water for Puerto Ricans. Even if the commodity were to be sold at a very high rate and the people living in Puerto Rican did not earn that much they would be forced to buy the commodity at any given price.
The economic equilibrium according to the factors that have happened as reported in the article can be described as exogenous factors. And what Puerto Ricans are going through can also be framed as a state of disequilibrium which at the moment is going to continue until a new equilibrium is identified (Sutter, 2017).
Large-scale factors like those that have happened to Puerto Ricans are part of everyday life events. Therefore, they can cause economics shifts that are very much related to the events such as the Hurricane that heat the state. The situation led to a huge change and adjustments in for instance their houses were affected and also they are experiencing delays when it comes to the government addressing their plight. Other factors may have benefited due to the Hurricane since after the houses and other supplements were destroyed supply for rebuilding materials will definitely make a huge change. However, at the moment they are adjusting slowly but the water condition is disastrous (Saul, 2014).
Conclusion
Natural disasters are not good when one is looking to set out a business that will last for long. The demand for a good when all the others factors are stable shifts the demand curve upwards. However, other factors are dependent on what is happening to either supply or demand. The customer has preferences therefore, one should anticipate the future if they were to have a stable and solid continued business. The high settlement in that geographic region has brought about the shift in demand for water for Puerto Ricans. Even if the commodity were to be sold at a very high rate and the people living in Puerto Rican did not earn that much they would be forced to buy the commodity at any given price.
