They use the analogy of replacing other sources of energy with nuclear power. By citing the many benefits of using nuclear power, the author of the first passage attracts the attention of his audience. Pope relies on facts and events that have already taken place, and avoids the use of figurative language. He says “20 tons of highly radioactive spent nuclear fuel …waste can kill at high doses…remains dangerous to humans for 200 thousand years”. This shows how dangerous nuclear power is to life on earth.

Besides that, there are occasional shorter sentences that are also supported by statistical facts. For example “Even this 2,000 tons of nuclear waste is not a technical problem”.
