An Effective Management of the Organization's Information System Infrastructure

An effective management of the organization's information system infrastructure raises a number of managerial issues. The majority of these administrative problems seriously cost the company money. Yet, the main element affecting adequate management of the organization's information system infrastructure (OIS) has been recognized as globalization (Kumar & Stylianou, 2014). Yet, with the advancement of technology, maintaining information systems has become more important. Moreover, managerial responsibilities cover people, procedures, and resources. A considerable increase in some resources that take the form of data is one of the administrative worries. The quantity of information being created and processed by most businesses has increased recently. This requires information system managers to adopt cautions to prevent the loss of data. For example, the organizations should use reliable servers for keeping information. Moreover, with the increase in data storage by most agencies, there is a need for experience and skills.

Increase the Changing Technology

Secondly, increase the changing technology is making the software and hardware systems for the organizations more obsolete within a short duration of time. Kumar and Stylianou (2014) argue that this requires the IS managers to facilitate buying of new hardware and software systems. This would make the information system sector expensive to efficiently and sufficiently manage. Moreover, changing technology requires continuous learning. Therefore, managers of the organizations are required to seek further knowledge to update themselves with current use of new technologies. Despite this being significant, it is time-consuming and inconveniencing to the information system managers and the organizations. In their study, Kumar and Stylianou (2014) outline that agencies would use more resources in facilitating and implementing changing technology.

Construction of Sufficient Adaptive and Responsive System Infrastructure

The other managerial issues are the construction of sufficient adaptive and responsive system infrastructure. These are systems that actively respond to various situations through different approaches. Additionally, they can be customized for application in different sectors. For example, a method is anticipated to provide information to the user concerning the failure in the module systems. According to Kumar and Stylianou (2014), during an emergency or failure situations, the systems should respond faster through guiding the user on what should be done. As a result, the information systems should be developed to adapt the user demands and changing functions.

Developing, Managing, and Facilitating Distributed Systems

Another issue associated with the effective management of the organization's information system infrastructure is developing, managing, and facilitating distributed systems. The agencies with several branches cannot be controlled through single units but by adequate distributed systems where its activities and services can easily be accessed from all the points. However, Kumar and Stylianou (2014) argue that it is challenging to successfully manage the distributed systems in ensuring similar services and products are present in all the sub-sectors or branches.

Effective Planning and Managing of the Communication Networks

Effective planning and managing of the communication networks is another managerial concern that is associated with managing the firm's information systems infrastructure. Using technology for processing information and communication depends on the ability to access internal and external communication systems. However, there are many challenges in managing the communication networks. These include an increase in hackers targeting the information systems and communication networks. These problems are prevented through the use of data backups and installation of the disaster recovery systems on data systems (Kumar & Stylianou, 2014). Last, the critical managerial issues are the recruitment and development of the information systems on human resources. There is a shortage of more qualified personnel of the information system. This has increasingly threatened the security system of several organizations' information system infrastructure. As a result, many organizations are required to recruit more qualified personnel to prevent the insecurity within the infrastructure. The security factors affecting system acquisition and development include increasing complexity and uncertainty, diverse user community. Additionally, poor infrastructure and unskilled personnel, lack of compatibility. Moreover, bureaucracy, leadership styles, and culture of organizations determine an effective systems acquisition and development. Therefore, Kumar and Stylianou (2014) suggest that the managerial issues related to managing the organization's information should be evaluated and facilitated for the success of the firms.
