References in Academic Papers

References are a crucial component of a curriculum resume for the hiring team at every company. In the case of an opening, organizations receive a large number of resumes, and one method of sorting through the many applications is to contact the references provided by the applicants. References of candidates are called to verify the details in their curriculum vitae. In an effort to impress the hiring team during the selection process, candidates may feel tempted to embellish their interactions with previous jobs. Therefore, the only way for human resources staff to receive a more unbiased evaluation of the candidate is to contact expert references.

References will assist potential employers in identifying candidates who adhere to the work ethic and culture of the company. Recruiters cannot base their decision on mere hearsay and possible bluff in the candidates resume as they strive to appoint an experienced and qualified candidate. By talking to the listed references the hiring manager would get to know the real me with regards to my past interaction with the references. In most cases references are used to complement an interview, particularly when employers get contradictory information during the interview process.

As professional references they are in a better position to speak on my skills, roles, performance and experiences objectively. In as much as it is impossible for all references to speak on every skill listed each of them can touch on at least two or three different skills concerning the client. References can vouch for me by speaking on what makes me a strong contestant for the available position because they have had a firsthand experience with me. References may not be the only deciding factor during the recruitment process but it can go a long way in confirming a candidates qualifications.
