Technology is a tool that fast drives the popularity of music festivals in the modern world. At the same time, it revises the experiences people have with live music. The innovative music of recent years has always been associated with technology. The modern world is full of unlimited computing power and connectivity. In light of such technological milestones, it comes as no surprise that creativity is infused in all types of music. Two critical developments are causing a revolution in music industry. First, computers have become so powerful and facilitate digital production of music with no limits. Secondly, the incorporation of music in social networking systems enhances music sharing in global platforms. It’s no surprise that technology impacts on the way we listen to music.

The modern technology provides no limit to the number of tracks that a computer system can mix. Usually, a song composition contains tracks and instruments, each with its effect. The freedom that comes along with technology also sparks an explosion both innovation and creativity. As a result, we have a greater population listening to dance music since it benefits disproportionately from the rise of computational power (The M Machine). The genre of electronic and dance music makes maximum use of technology thus creating a sonic impact. Many people have an attraction to big drums and massive bass sounds that are achievable through sonic processing. Thus, the modern producers are only limited by own creativity in making live and attractive sounds leading to music choices.

Multiple studies reflect the important role of technology in creating music preferences. People have the tendency of listening to music with different sound Medias such as Walkman, MP3, CDs, MDs, MP3 players (Greasly & Alexandra 963). The studies establish that the love for a particular type of music is achieved by the ownership of reproductive media. The reason for building music preferences is out of necessity since people always want to hear music while going about their daily activities. The technology makes it possible for the listeners to upload their music onto game platforms such as Playstations and Xbox. The file uploads make them listen to their music preferences while playing rather than those provided by such games. Additionally, internet downloading programs are also useful in shaping music preferences. Many people draw their attention to the specific role of technology in downloading which helps the access and retrieve the music they have listened. The downloaded music has a particular way of influencing music preferences among the listeners. For example, people have the tendency of listening to music on the internet to determine their liking for it (Greasly & Alexandra 963). Thus, the technology has greatly influenced individual music preferences through multiple changes and fluctuations.

Technological advancements are changing the cultural consumption and related entertainment. The changes in the material dimension in cultural uses of music have brought key issues in the analysis and development consumption habits, emphasizing the shifts to cultural music that affects consumer acts (Kamien & Anita). The leisure and cultural sectors in the modern-day involve processes of deep re-articulation of the link between content and material media (Magaudda 18). Music, therefore, represents an emblematic case for the analysis of ongoing digitization in the modern era.

While changes are seen in music listening practices, a few measures are taken in legal and economic perspectives. The technology used in modern music causes loss of materiality which eventually leads to changes in consumer practices seen through consumption (Magaudda 18 ). The analysis of music consumption and the influence on practices is due to the limitless application of technology. The technologies have not only impacted on music consumption but also the interpretation of changes in objects that shape peoples habits and cultures.

New attachment with music

The consumption of music associated with the new technology plays a pivotal role in facilitating agency of listeners and communicating new practices, meanings and musical attachments. The development of new devices such as portable players facilitates the relationships between people and objects surrounding them (Magaudda 22). The introduction of such items such as iPods has paved way for other devices such as iPhones and iPads. With respect to musical consumption, shown by shifting music flows, the objects are representations in which musical technological music are reconfigured. The consequences of introducing such technological devices are seen in terms of consumer appropriation. It’s, therefore, possible to consider how the listeners make some objects appropriate or listening to music of their preferences. The new technologies in music, therefore, explain the choice and adoption of specific accessories by the listeners.
