About Psychotherapy

Two people are shown in the video: Robin, who is receiving counseling, and Rodger, who is the client. The client has been struggling with excessive worry about both things that have already happened and things that are still to come (Rodgers, 2017). In the video, the therapist gives the client plenty of time to explain her feelings. The dialogue is dominated by the client. Most people would assume that it is the counselor's duty to inform the clients of their obligations.

The person-centered expressive arts therapy used in the film is a counseling theory. As stated in the course, most of the people in the society would put blames on others when they are faced with problems. Adopting such a method of therapy makes the stressed individuals realize that they have solutions to their problem during the therapy period (Rodgers, 2017). The counseling session begins, and the counselor tells the client to take a little time and breath in and out to relax the mind. By the time the interview is done, the client seems to have found the solutions to her problems all by herself. 31:41 minutes into the video, the counselor helps the client realize how vital it is to open up to friends and gain advice on how to deal with family problems.

I have been able to gain personal insight from the video. The person-centered therapy is necessary because it helps people see their problems from their standpoint and easily get to a solution easily (Rodgers, 2017). I think that gaining advice on the best move to adopt may be a problem because, at certain times, we may not agree with the counselor in totality but when we find these solutions by ourselves, we end up following them so easily.
