All of East Elmhurst's locations are in New York, as is Queens County. Regarding their populations, there are some parallels between them and a few discrepancies. This essay compares the populations of each group. The census of the year 2000 will serve as the foundation for the data.

The map of East Elmhurst, New York, is shown above. Thirty-eight thousand, six hundred and fifteen persons called East Elmhurst home as of the year 2000. About 26% of those in this group were younger than the age of nineteen. Over sixty-two was represented by 24 percent of the population. Therefore, majority of the people were between the age of nineteen and sixty two. Almost half of them were males and the other half females. Majority of males were between the age of twenty five and twenty nine years constituting almost five percent. A large number of Males are between the age of fifteen and forty four years of age. Only one thousand, six hundred and twenty one were sixty five years of age and above.

Females were more than men by less than one percent. Forty percent of them were sixteen years of age and older. Similarly, a majority of them were between the age of twenty five and twenty nine years of age constituting about four percent of the total number. The median age was about thirty two years. However the number of females above the age of sixty five were more than the number of males constituting about six percent of the total number. The majority of females were sixteen years of age and over.

The majority of the population was white constituting thirty four percent of the total population. The second largest race was Black/ African Americans coming it at nineteen percent of the total population. There were no Samoans in East Elmhurst. The lowest number of a particular race was the Japanese race who were only eighteen in number. Out of the total population, majority of the citizens lived in households.

The above map is the map of Queens County New York. As of two thousand and ten, Queens County, New York was highly populated than East Elmhurst. It had a total population of two million, two hundred and thirty thousand, and seven hundred and twenty two people. The median age was thirty seven years. Eighty one percent of the people were sixteen years of age and above. Only about thirteen percent of the total population was sixty five percent of age and above. Like in Elmhurst, the majority of people are between the age of twenty five and twenty nine years of age constituting about eight percent of the total population.

There were more females than males in Queens County just like in East Elmhurst. Males only constituted about forty eight percent of the total population. Majority of males were between the age of twenty five and twenty four years of age constituting about four point one percent. The median age for males was about thirty six years. There were more males who were eighty five years of age and older in Queens County than in East Elmhurst.

Females constituted about fifty one percent of the total population. The largest number of females were between the age of twenty five and twenty nine years age. Their median age was thirty eight years. There were more numbers of females aged sixty five years of age and older than men constituting about seven percent. This percentage was also higher than that of East Elmhurst which was at six percent. Most of the females were sixteen years of age and older constituting about forty two percent.

Majority of the citizens were whites just like in East Elmhurst, coming in at about forty percent. The second largest race was African Americans at about nineteen percent. Unlike in East Elmhurst, there were Samoans in Queens numbering sixty two. Just like in East Elmhurst, majority of people live in households. Family households were the majority totaling sixty seven percent. Majority of them were husband – wife kind of family numbering about forty five percent.

During the period between 2000 and 2010, the characteristics of the population did not change much. There were still more females than males. The largest population was still between the age of twenty five and twenty nine. The only difference was that there were more people in Orange County in twenty ten than in the year two thousand. Similarly, East Elmhurst saw an increase in population from the year two thousand and two thousand and ten. However, there were still more females than males. However, the majority of people in two thousand were between the ages of thirty five and forty years while in two thousand and ten the largest group was between the age of twenty four and twenty nine years of age.
