Hacking can be defined as a breach of an organization's data. Breaching an organization's information results in financial loss, as well as the hacked company's reputation. Customers will have lost faith in the corporate organization. The organization will be perceived as having deceived the clients, who had trusted it to keep their secrets safe.

The data breach to this London based hospital is seen to be among the devastating information system breach in recent times. The hospital conducts a very high profile plastic surgery to its clients. Of the clients that seek plastic surgery from this hospital includes the England’s royal family. The attack is allegedly carried out by an organization of deep hackers known as the Dark Overlord. The hackers broke into the information system database of the hospital, in what is said to be a very smartly crafted technique and obtained pictures among other sensitive confidential information of the hospital’s clients. The sensitive photos of the top renowned celebrities were in-progress genitalia surgery, plastic surgery of the breast among other body parts. The attack was considered fierce as the privacy of the hospital’s client was under jeopardy. Such that exposure of that information could potentially degrade the privacy of the top celebrities and other citizens who use the facility.

Hackers' Claims and Threats

The group of hackers responsible for this attacked claimed to have acquired a lot of classified information. The vital information varied from closeup pictures of the male and female genitalia under surgery to post-surgery male and female private parts. The hacking proved to be fatal as some of the pictures were said to have the faces of certain renowned top celebrities. The Dark Overlord hackers gave enormous threats to make the illegally obtained photos freely available over the internet. These threats potentially shook the London based healthcare facility.

Implications of the Data Breach

Privacy and confidentiality of the patients information should be upheld at all times. It is a constitutional right that an individual is entitled to privacy of their own personal information. The breach and subsequent stealing of the patients information, when exposed, will significantly tarnish the name of the health facility. The patients will feel betrayed as they gave the health facility their full trust and confidence to have access to their private space. It will be next to impossible for the patients to be convinced to continue seeking healthcare procedures from the same hospital in the future. This is because previously the health facility promised the patients that they actually invest in modern-day technology to uphold and secure the integrity of their classified personal information.

Moreover, the healthcare facility may be faced with charges of negligence. The patients may feel that their personal information was not treated with the required utmost care. Some of the patients would, therefore, seek legal redress over this matter. The hospital will face significant amount of losses in the compensation of the patients victimized as a result of the potential data breach.

Implementation of Wearable Computers for Drivers

Legislations that seek to implement the safe movement of traffic on our roads has always been the main point of concern in the government. It is common today experiencing accidents every day on our roads. The main causes of road accidents can be traced back to the use of mobile phones while driving. Human is to error, and so the handling of mobile phones while someone is behind the wheel increase the probability of this error to occur. For instance, when an individual is driving with one hand and the other hand holding the mobile phone will be prone to make an accident in the case of sudden swerve of the vehicle. The use of mobile phones while driving has lead to many deaths that would otherwise be avoided if not the handling of the mobile phones while driving.

Wearable computer devices such as the Bluetooth phones will do good. Bluetooth speakers are relatively tiny devices that are worn on the ear by the user. The advantage of this device is that it is hands-free. When the user wants to pick a call, they just ensure that the device is connected and they can freely talk to the other person on the other side of the call with minimum destruction. The receiving of calls while on the roads will be relatively easy. Therefore, it is up to the government to ensure that proper legislation that dictates every driver to be supplied with wearable computing devices such as Bluetooth phones is implemented. Effective follow up should also be put in place to ensure these laws are not violated and upheld even in the future. The result will be less accidents in our roads and precious lives would be saved.
