The business manager for the school district made excellent choices while arranging to purchase new kitchen appliances for the catering business and a new bus for the transportation service. Modernized kitchen appliances will be faster at cooking, easier to clean, and better at preserving food.

Outsourcing may also create the risk of exposing private data to the vendors.

Dismantling the departments handling food and transportation services

The dismantling of the departments handling food and transportation services was also a wrong decision made by the school district leader. The department was involved in the proper management of the budget dispatched each year by the union. The staff involved in both department made sure that the money allocated benefited the community and yielded profits.

The leader should keep the services more in-house than outsourcing from local vendors- This is because it would discourage the employees to work efficiently since the food and transportation service is not a community project anymore.

Implementation of new ideas will help in the smooth running of the organization and as a result, contributing to organizational success.

Strategic planning for improvement

The food and transportation department should not be dismantled but should be planned strategically to improve productivity. The food and transportation operation is using outdated and old infrastructure. The kitchen, for example, should have new kitchen equipment as proposed by Ms C to improve on the efficacy at preparing food. On the other hand, the transportation operation should plan to buy a new vehicle to reduce the cost the department is incurring when servicing.
