The Battle of Yarmouk

A book called The Battle of Yarmouk was written to illustrate how the Islamic movement spread. For the leaders who take part in the battles, it illustrates tremendous ironies in life. As a result, the artwork aims to depict the paradoxes of the battleground. Unlike most fights, where the strongest person would almost always prevail, this one shows a distinct phenomenon. In fact, since the start of the events surrounding warfare, the Battle of Yarmuk sticks out as one of the pivotal battles. Although the Byzantine force in this instance looked to be larger and more powerful during the six-day battle, the virtually outnumbered Army of the Arabs annihilates them. The unexpected defeat contributed to the prolonged state of destruction of not only Palestine and Syria but also Mesopotamia as well as Egypt, which was the reason for the collapse of the traditional rivalry, in Byzantium also known as the Sassanid Empire.

Another purpose of writing The Battle of Yarmouk is to show the Muslims’ relentless fight with enemies and this, perhaps, explains their massive presence in the world. Even the forces fighting for the Muslims were few; their determination enabled them to conquer their enemies. It also shows the roles that battle leaders play in any field of fight. Khalid Bin Walled was the leader of the Muslims’ group and the success of the force makes him considered the bravest. Therefore, from the success of the Muslims, the strength might play the little role, unlike the courageous actions. Great leadership, as well as wise advises, are essential in any event. The success of the Battle of Yarmouk is the result of high leadership portrayed by Khalid Bin Walled.

Additionally, the writing is purposely used to show the importance of religious beliefs. Before the battle, the Muslim fighters and their leaders prayed to their Almighty. As a result, it can be argued that the success of the Arab’s military was attributed to the favor of the religion. It is often neglected that the Arabs had commanders with the superior generalship, which compensated for the few resources in their organization. From this writing, it is should be noted that God can fight on a person’s behalf. Therefore, a battle during this particular time is worth re-examination to integrate the way the leadership in the military plays roles in the victories. The Battle of Yarmouk is an example of such an encounter in which the traditional historiographies need reevaluation to meet the effectiveness and the efficacy of the Caliphate under the leadership of Khalid Bin Walled.

The Battle of Yarmouk is suitable to support a historical debate since it is instructional in the annals of the history of the military because it pitted a well-equipped, combative, experienced army with a recognized doctrine against a rather simple and an outnumbered ill-equipped enemy. The writing is credible and can be relied on because the eye-witnesses support it.

In conclusion, The Battle of Yarmouk shows the Muslims’ conquest of the world even in the current society. The battle, in particular, destroyed the reputation of the Heraclius military. It failed to prevent the loss of the empire and could only retreat into isolation. Furthermore, the writing also reminds everyone that being strong does matter but the goodness in taking instructions is more significant
