The value of the current inventory

To get the value of the current inventory, we look at the recent 10 weeks which is the 4 weeks in the month of august, 2015, four weeks in the month of July 2015 and two weeks in the month of June.

Total inventory value in the 4 weeks of August = 718033

Total inventory value in the 4 weeks of July = 667,607

To get the number orders the firm can make in a year, we first get EOQ is applied

EOQ= where S is the is ordering cost, D is annual demand, iC i the inventory carrying cost

Annual demand = 1,484,390 units

To get the carrying cost per unit, the total carrying cost will be divided by the number of units = 2,229,892.7/1,484,390 = £1.50 per unit

To get the number of orders, divide the annual demand with EOQ = 1,484,390/4,448.8 =

333.6 orders set up cost per order will be 333.6*£10 = £3,336.

ROP for each order

ROP = expected demand during lead time x safety stock

Get demand per day 1,484,390/364 = 4,077.9

There are 333.6 orders, each with, 4,448.8 units

Lead time is 4 weeks,

= 4,077.9 x 4 = 16,311.6

ROP = 16,311.6 + 4,077.9 = 20,389.5

ROP = 20,389.5

ROP for each order = 20,389.5/333.6 = 61.11

For example the ROP for item no. 94217 whose annual demand is 6,129 units will have to be reorder 61.11 which means when the inventory reaches this level, there will be need to reorder new units.
