Because management is an art

There isn't a single right or wrong approach to practice it (Meyer, 1997). There are, nevertheless, a few techniques to guarantee efficiency, financial success, and both employee and customer happiness. In their book Low Hanging Fruit, Jeremy and Terri provide managers worldwide with a simple, efficient, and cost-effective method of achieving organizational objectives. This essay will examine some of the ideas from the book Low-hanging Fruit regarding how to increase a company's productivity and profit.

The phrase "low hanging fruit"

Refers to opportunities and resources that are simple to access. Contrary to popular believe that success has to be hard, time-consuming and stressful, the book offers managers with small ways of reducing effort and raising profits. The book, which contains 77 short chapters of 77 ideas on how to boost productivity and returns, is easy to read and implement. It addresses some major topic that affects all businesses despite they sizes and experience. Some of these subjects include; time management, accountability, teamwork and problem-solving (Eden, 2014).

Jeremy Eden and Terri Long have tremendous experience

And have transformed many companies' losses to millions of profits. These consultants have worked with companies of different sizes for over twenty years teaching them on how to making a big difference by discovering possibilities and making significant changes (Eden, 2014). The book which is straight forward applies to all levels of management whether you a low-level employee or an executive.

As an assistant living supervisor

My work is normally very challenging since working with the elderly is not easy. A conflict between the residents and the employees and conflict between the residents themselves is an everyday occurrence, and it is my job to solve these conflicts. Employee turnover is all another major challenge that we face, and this is a result of low job satisfaction. Profitability and productivity are also another challenges, and as assistant to the department coordinator, it is my responsibility to solve these problems.

Employees are the most valuable resource in an organisation

And they should be every organisation's top priority. Jeremy and Terri say that in to achieve optimum performance from employees, management should motivate their employees (Eden, 2014). It is vital to the management to set work conditions that will help employees achieve satisfaction and this, in turn, will reduce turnover, the rate of absenteeism and will increase productivity (Meyer,1997).

Reducing cost is a major way to improve profitability

Looking for excess costs allow you to eliminate unneeded services. The book cites an example of a food company that saved cost and increased customer satisfaction after removing a service that the client did not want, and in the processes, they made work easier (Eden, 2014). Knowing what the residents need may help me reduce cost and improve customer service.

Seasonally swapping employees from various departments

Is also another idea from the two consultants. The interchange may lead to the realization of some simple changes that would make work easier and may improve productivity (Eden, 2014). It may also save both departments some money. Asking new employees on how to improve operation is also another great suggestion. These offer fresh insight that may be useful to the organization.

Low hanging fruit is a book that changes the perspective of management

It provides insight on how to shift your approach and mindset to reveal the hidden potential. If you have not yet read the book, this is the time to do so.
