Monash University Procurement

MONASHProcure has an order to procure and deliver 100 high-end desktops and essential software to Monash University, College of Business. This should be done before the commencement of semester 1, 2019(February 2019). The specifications of the desktops, as well as the limitations that the supplier could face, are briefly discussed below.

The desktops have to be high performance and to achieve this; they require having the latest software installed and up to date. The hardware should be in good working conditions as well. Given that the desktops should be from recognized brands, Lenovo V520S SFF could make a good brand to supply (Das et al. 254).

The desktop has a processor of up to 7th generation. Its operating system conforms to the required operating system. It has a memory of 32 GB. The specifications of storage include HDD up to 1TB and SSD up to 128GB and a slim ODD, which match the required specifications. It also has very good graphics. Preloaded software includes Lenovo App Explorer, Microsoft Office 2016 and Lenovo companion 3.0. Moreover, 2 USB, HDMI, LAN, 2 audio, VGA and serial ports are available accessories. The specific cost varies depending on the region.

The supplier faces major limitations that could result in more, perhaps unnecessary cost. Time to fully supply the goods is limited. Faulty or damaged items will result in more cost being incurred by the supplier. The contractor accounts for the transportation cost and the distance involved in supply could be a limitation.

Time

 Time is a constraint because there will be a penalty for not meeting the deadline which will be 5% of contract money per week. Delays and other factors that could result in delays will therefore not be expected (Belkine, Artem, and Ido Ben-Shachar 438). Measures will be put in place to avoid incurring any penalty leading to a loss. There will be a lot to do and so much will be put in to beat the limited time available.

Performance

The University requires the latest model as of February 2018. The specifications provided are for high-performance desktops (Belkine, Artem, and Ido Ben-Shachar 438). Furthermore, the latest software should be purchased and installed. This improves the performance of the desktops (Das et al. 254). The desktops should from recognized brands. The contractor should provide a sample of the selected products for a demonstration before going to supply the full lot. This ensures that the goods supplied are efficient and in good working condition thus enhances high performance. The goods should conform to the specifications and they will be rejected if they do not conform to the specifications (Das et al. 254).  The contractor will be expected to provide new items at its cost.

Cost

The contractor ensures the delivery should be on time with the least cost incurred. No delays should be experienced since there will be penalties for delays. Damages or faulty items are a liability to the contractor and should be avoided at all costs. These liabilities will be major setbacks to the contractor and increase the cost involved. To enhance cost, therefore, all cost-incurring liabilities should be minimized.
