Effective communication systems encourage the interaction of many systems and point them in the direction of a certain goal. The process by which information, ideas, opinions, viewpoints, and thoughts are communicated among people is referred to as communication. Because of some negative elements like resistance and a lack of regard for other people, opinions or ideas that are not shared cannot be executed successfully (Banihashemi 13). A message must be clear, intelligible, and exact in order to be effective in communication. Additionally, the use of proper communication channels should be used to guarantee that the audience understands the message. Hence, the nature of communication utilized by an organization directly influences the outputs. It is an aspect that shapes the organization behavior and the interaction of various systems.

The positive correlation between communication and firms output broadly depicts why it is more than a process. However, this essay has introduced by describing communication as a process, but its fundamentality for success necessitates broadening of the meaning. Effective communication plays a significant role in organization change, decision making, and strategic planning (Peter 18). The turbulent business environment has changed how companies approach various matters like planning and implementing change. It is through effective communication that a business can rejuvenate in the event of crises and take a right course that can lead to success. For instance, a company can finance a team to conduct a marketing research. If the finding is poorly communicated, such information can be useless. The results will be useless if it is poorly implemented which could have been probably caused by ineffective communication process.

Currently, most organizations have introduced new and sophisticated production and administrative systems. These changes are aimed to align companies with the technology and consequently assist businesses to gain competitive advantages. Tremendous creativity and innovations experienced in the 21st century have resulted in the establishment of flexible operational policies. Most firms have embraced flexible policies mainly to allow the incorporation of new ideas and technologies that align with both short and long-term objectives. Ostensibly, change is an entirely different process from communication. However, change cannot be effectively and timely executed without fully involving communication. Despite communication being a process of exchanging information, the management is fundamentally required to ensure due processes are put in place to enhance workers comprehension of the essentiality of organization change.

Successful organization change commences with communicating to the employees the most important reasons why the firm wants to change. It is through communication that change of objectives will be accordingly disseminated and appropriate measures put in place to enhance the provision of training and education to employees regarding the up to date skills that are requisite for the new system (Husain 43). Somebody can still ponder about the relationship between communication and organization change! Communication is a requisite for change. This postulation can further be justified through the examination of different processes that are involved in when a team is implementing the transition.

A practical example to describe the role of communication in the organization is reflected in the Lewin’s Change Model. In each of the three stages of change, communication is utilized for a distinctive reason. First and foremost, communication is used in the unfreezing stage to prepare the workers for a change. It is through timely and efficient communication that the employees will be mentally and psychologically prepared for the transition process. Secondly, communication is applied in the moving stage. This is a stage characterized by the implementations of the change. Communication plays a central role in enhancing two major objectives. It is used to inform those involved in the change process about activities to do. Notably, during change implementation, most people are unfamiliar with activities that are required to be done. Therefore, effective communication is employed to inform them about the expectations and their roles succinctly. Additionally, communication is employed to dismiss the misinformation that could be circulating in the individuals. It is an indisputable fact that most people do fear change because they believe the introduction of technology in the business could ultimately result in loss of jobs. Hence, the use of effective communication will ensure such misconception in the workers is eliminated and finally win their support.

Moreover, the refreezing stage equally needs the same level of communication applied in the other two phases. In this phase, communication is instrumental in building processes and structures that support the new ways. A new operational and administrative system indeed requires measures formulation of measures that motivate and encourages employees to support the company mission. Concrete and multidirectional information flow from the top to all levels to ensure everyone thoroughly understands positivity of the change. Therefore, it is worth to applaud the role of change as a way of transforming the business to match current business environment. The most important factor to note will and remains that it is through effective communication that a business can achieve the change objectives. Hence, justifying terming of communication as not only a process of communication but also a strategic process that enhances organization success.

Furthermore, communication is essential in improving a good working relation between employees. Workers play a noble role in ensuring all roles are executed accordingly to help a business achieves its strategic plans. It people who appropriately utilizes the technology to perform various activities. However, these roles cannot be efficiently conducted if poor communication systems are used. An organization that lacks cohesiveness and unity struggles to implement strategic plans. Division of the workforce increases the chances of failure. For an organization to succeed, employees should freely and openly share information. This information can only be shared through communication (Neves &Eisenberger 452). It doesn’t matter how the information is disseminated, but the most important attributes that should be achieved in the communication is clarity and understandability. Sometimes, some tasks are more involving and without the help of the others can result in a late completion. Consequently, the business may miss out to achieve the primary objective from the activity. It can be through the existence of a good relationship among the employees that a worker can engage the other one and share ideas about how to approach an issue.

In addition, a healthy relation among the employees increases the degree of support workers accord to the management regarding various decisions formulated. Not all viable decisions lead to company success. What matters most is how effective is the implementation processes used by the management. As earlier discussed, implementation of any plan requires regular, efficient and timely dissemination of information. In some cases, communication may be conducted accordingly, but because of the poor relation that exists between the management and the workers, instances such as sabotage might occur which may hinder effective implementation of plans. Therefore, it is only through effective communication practices that a good relation can be established between the employees and work as a family. With healthy relation among the workers in the organization, there will be a high degree of commitments, and everyone will always help the other effectively perform assigned tasks.

The changing business environment necessitates for the adoption of excellent communication practices in organizations. The new technology had simplified communication and redefined the meaning accorded to it by companies (Weimann et al 187). Traditionally, communication was mainly used to communicate to the employees about management expectations from the employees. Currently, communication has become a yardstick through which formulation and implementation of decisions significantly depend on the communication processes utilized. Today, the importance of communication have been magnified and applied to persuade and influence customers to purchase and use products of a particular company (Akam 97). However, the application of communication to influence customers purchase behavior perhaps seems dilemmatic. The fact here upholds that communication is more that dissemination of information. Communication aims to achieve distinctive goals that are core to business success. Just communicating information to the customers does not guarantee a positive market response. The persuasiveness and conspicuousness of the message probably paint a unique attribute that turns communication into a strategic approach to fostering business success. It is through increased customer base that a company can realize increased sales volume hence growth and expansion.

Besides, decision making is a technical process that needs due care in approaching various issues before giving priority on issues. Decision making is not a process that can be done by one person in the organization and receive the greatest support it deserves during actualization. There should be effective communication practices to collect views and opinions from different departments in the business. Appropriate and adequate information is probably gathered from employees through communication. Afterward, the data collected can be analyzed and assessed to determine the applicability of different views. Hence, the viable decisions depend on the level of communication used by the management to gather information from the employees especially if a participative system is adopted.

In summary, communication is a critical aspect that significantly determines the success of any organization. This essay acknowledges the roles communication plays in ensuring that a business is inclusive in making viable decisions. Moreover, it is through effective communication practices that a business can successfully implement change. Notably, it is through change that an organization can reposition itself in a better place to overcome the fluid business environment. Currently, most companies have embraced technology in the production, procurement, and marketing of products and services. Most employees sometimes are uninformed about the needed skills in operating the new technologies acquired by the management. Therefore, these employees are prepared and led through the transition process by effective communication to ensure everyone understands the reasons for the change. Also, employees are informed about different roles they should play during and after the change. Additionally, communication aids in cementing relation among the employees. As a result, unity is achieved in the firm which strengthens the determination among employees and willingness to share ideas and support each other in discharging various duties. It is, therefore, apparent that communication is a pillar to organization success and the myriad roles it plays justifies it to be termed more than a process of disseminating information to the employees.
