The observation was made during a PE lesson during which kids were playing basketball. Standard safety and preventative procedures were put in place to reduce any risks that could damage the pupils if they occurred. There were safety marks, and according to the teacher, the basketball backboards and rings should have large label warnings about the dangers of improper product usage or installation. The school administration is responsible for ensuring that the required safety indicators are permanently visible on both existing and new backboards (Mawer, 2014).

There was the practice of employing a regular warm up session to interest the pupils in the PE instruction. The importance of the warm up is to cut on the time spent to teach all the students a lot of information regarding the previous lesson (Fletcher, 2012). In the lesson, the teacher used the separating technique of engaging the students in the class. Separation is done through creative ways to divide the students into practice group throughout the lesson. The use of the groups is likely to allow the students help one another and spend time doing the physical exercise (McMullen, Kulinna & Cothran, 2014).

The teacher’s choice of engaging the students through warm-up and separation is effective because it puts the students in a continuous learning environment. The separate stations have various activity levels like the simplified and strenuous versions of the physical activities (McMullen, Kulinna & Cothran, 2014). This way, the students can learn at their pace and abilities to allow them to feel successful in the lesson. Looking into the merits of the engagement strategies, it is evident that they are effective enough to get the students teaching (McKenzie & Lounsbery, 2013).

In the current system, there are the size and equipment restrictions, and it could be important to move away from the traditional sports. I could focus more on the skills that the student will be more pertinent to utilize in the future. It is also an option to create a broader approach to the state of wellness when looking at the national, district, or state standards (Dent & Harden, 2013).
