Humans' Good and Bad Traits in Their Personalities

Humans have both good and bad traits in their personalities or temperament. To be labeled as a good person, one must repress wicked desires and passions while focusing solely on one's own righteousness. Yet, most people are unable to avoid their hopes and frequently live a double existence in which they openly act in good faith while privately carrying out their bad wishes. Furthermore, some people are unable to conceal their bad nature, which becomes the dominating trait, and thus only commit terrible activities publicly and privately. In Strange Case of Dr. Jykell and Mr. Hyde, Dr. Jykell manages to live a double-edged life as good person and also as Mr. Hyde executes the evil passions and deeds. However, the evil in Mr. Hyde dominates the good of Dr. Jykell which makes it vivid that giving in to evil desires often leads to embracing evil which dominates in an individual's life.

Dr. Jykell's Evil Intentions and Effort

To start with, Dr. Jykell intentions and effort in finding a way of transform to Mr. Hyde to execute his evil deeds and follow his evil passions is evident that Dr. Jykell is an evil person. Despite his excellent reputation, it is clear that Dr. Jykell interest in pursuing his demons was unstoppable. He was unable to resist his evil desires of debauchery hence finding a way of achieving his aspirations without destroying his reputation as Dr. Jykell. Therefore, the notion of creating and transforming to Mr. Hyde makes it evident that DR. Jykell was purely an evil person who was hiding beneath the good reputation and respect of Dr. Jeykell. His willingness to transform himself to Mr. Hyde is a vivid indication of corrupt interest or an evil nature which most probably dominates his good character. Supportively, case Dr. Jykell had good intentions at heart; he would resist the temptation to transform into any evil form since evil meant pain and suffering for his community.

Dr. Jykell's Support and Protection for Mr. Hyde

Dr. Jykell proves to be purely evil by offering protection and support to Mr. Hyde. In the first chapter, it is evident that Dr. Jykell is willing to use his resources to protect the evil Mr. Hyde. After Hyde knocks down a girl and the mob get angry and decide to kill him, he uses Dr. Jykell bank account to free himself from the angry mob. This symbolizes the Dr.'s support for evil in the society. Additionally, after Hyde kills an old man, Dr. Jykell ensures that Hyde is not discovered by faking illness and denying his friends' access to him or his house. Apart from that, in creating the medium of transformation from Dr. Jykell to Mr. Hyde, the Dr. must have used his resources to research and purchase the necessary chemicals to facilitate the transformation. Dr. Jykell's willingness to support evil deeds and protect evil-doers in the society makes it clear that he is purely evil. Additionally, by asking his own life through the use of transformation chemicals to be Mr. Hyde proves that evil is at his heart and he is willing to do anything he wishes to ensure that he succeeds in his evil deeds.

Dr. Jykell's Evil Actions as Mr. Hyde

Additionally, Dr. Jykell proves to be pure evil in the actions he undertakes as Mr. Hyde. Being Mr. Hyde, the Dr. manages to show his real nature and proves that he is an evil person. Notably, he indulges in every evil deed that leaves the community in fear and unrest as well as hurts the entire society. Dr. Hyde proves to have no respect for young children by knocking off the young girl. Morally, it is evil for a grown man to hit a young girl without any objective. Apart from that, Dr. Jykell also allows Mr. Hyde to execute unnecessary killings based on significant reason. Mr. Hyde kills the old man for no good reason despite his willingness to give directions to Mr. Hyde.

Dr. Jykell's Involvement in Murders and Dramatic Events

Apart from that, the Dr. also kills Mr. Lanyon after they have a fallout. Despite the factor that the author des do not disclose that Dr. Jykell killed Lanyon, it is more likely that he killed Mr. Lanyon after their fall out. Notably, after Mr. Lanyon dies, Jykell hides from the public and also hinders his friends from him. Therefore, Dr. Jykell evil nature leads to him murdering his friends due to minor fallouts. The Dr.'s hand in Lanyon murder is evident in the letter he left to his lawyer. He shows that he is already forgotten of his friendship with Lanyon. The letter also proves the pure evil nature of Dr. Jykell since he fails to show any regrets or condolences to his friend. Rather, he shows that he has moved on and have no regrets about his friend's death by showing that there is no more friendship between him and Lanyon.

Moreover, the author also uses dramatic events to prove that Dr. Jykell is purely evil. Towards the end of the story, Dr. Jykell's portions fail to work on him. As a result, he remains in his evil nature since all chemicals used to transform him fail to work. He uses all his scientific knowledge and new chemicals and salts which fail to change him into the good person. Symbolically, Dr. Jykell's failure to transform from his evil nature exhibits the dominance of his sinful nature over his good character. His evil nature takes full control since he fails to bring back the good Dr. Jykell. Therefore, it is clear that Dr. Jykel fully gives in to his sinful and evil nature and decides not to turn back but carry on as an evil person as he always has been. However, this time around he doesn't hide his evil nature but accepts and lives with it without concern for his excellent reputation as Dr. Hyde

In conclusion, it is evident that every person has bot evil and good traits. However, Dr. Jykell's case proves that evil people cannot suppress their evil desires and intentions. Instead, they assume two personalities in which they do well publicly but indulge in immoral activities in private. Apart from that, evil people also support evil deeds with all resources they have at their disposal. Moreover, an evil person also risks his good reputation and respect to indulge in demonic activities and always ready to face the consequences when caught. Additionally, this novel shows that evil people will always do evil despite how good they seem to be. Dr. Jykel hides in religion and good deeds but is unable to refrain from his desires of debauchery. Eventually, he is unable to hide who he is, an evil man.
