The provisions of health care principles ensure the successful delivery of quality care. These concepts include the principles of informed consent (autonomy), beneficence and nonmaleficence, justice, and secrecy and truthfulness. All of these tenets aim to maintain the integrity of health care while honoring patients' rights: a moral obligation.

The principle of informed consent and autonomy-this principle states that in order to respect the patient's autonomy (the freedom to make his own decisions), medical practitioners must be transparent and disclose all informational resources to the patients regarding their treatment decisions. It demands that the medical professionals must seek permission of the patient in administering medication. In the event of the death of a patient transfers the duty of consenting to the family (Baillie et al., 2012).

Beneficence and Non-Maleficence- the principle of beneficence requires medical professionals to act in the best interest of the patient (Baillie et al., 2012). Non-Maleficence, on the other hand, advances that whatever the decisions the medical practitioners make on treatment, they must benefit the whole community (Baillie et al., 2012). The general interest of the society is given more importance.

Justice- this principle postulates that medical practitioners must uphold fairness in handling patients. It further requires that in the distribution of medical goods and services, equity and fairness must be practiced (Baillie et al., 2012).

Principles of confidentiality and truthfulness- this states that the medical practitioners must keep all the information and records of the patients are confidential and that the privacy of the patient is upheld. Disclosing patient’s information may cause harm to the patient (Baillie et al., 2012).

Conclusion

Provision of quality health care requires the medical practitioners to abide by health ethics and demonstrate high standard or practice as stipulated in the health codes of conduct and professional standards. Adherence to ethical codes and principles have the effect of building trust on the clients, promotes the integrity of health practice, guards against violations of patients’ rights, and above all ensures efficient care delivery.
