The Ancient Rome

The ancient Rome basically means the city of Rome that was located at central Italy. Its location places it directly within the civilization of the Mediterranean cluster. The most famous were the Ancient Greeks, Phoenicians, and Carthaginians together with the Etruscans. People such as Lycians also had some contribution although at a lesser way compared to the other groups. The advancement of ancient Rome was greatly rooted both directly and indirectly from all of the other cultures. The early centuries Rome was greatly influenced by Etruscan civilization, which was too powerful especially to its north. It is through the civilization that they ended up acquiring different aspects of Etruscans culture (Taylor, 2013). The Rome expanded and managed to come into contacts with Greeks where they managed to acquire some of their cultures too.

The Ancient Roman Culture

The Ancient Roman culture began mainly as the society of farmers who practiced their farming as the small-scale farmers. As Rome grew and developed more extensively it became the most powerful and most urbanized society during the pre-industrial world. People in Roman began more serious in making sculptures which also contributed to improving the Roman economy. The people advanced their knowledge of sculpture making and the more beautiful thing was made and most countries loved their works (Taylor, 2013). Sarcophagus sculpture was one of the Roman artifacts, which was basically designed for the commander of the Roman military as the last resting place for the Roman commander. The magnificent sarcophagus contains aesthetic carvings done by Romans. The art piece is made of marble with a net weight of approximately 2.5 Tons. The sculpture was done in accordance with the Roman expectation. This kind of a work increased the Roman fame and was loved by many (Hölscher, 2013). The Roman soldiers in the sculpture are well armed better swords and they also protect themselves using the round shield. The sculpture is well decorated with the scene of a battle that was taking place between the soldiers and the Amazons. The sarcophagus gives a clear representation of Amazon soldiers on their horses while the women seem dead.

The Result of the Battle

The Romans defined the result of the battle using four corners as outlined in the sarcophagus. There are prisoners represented through tied hands and kneeling and the respective trophies representing the composition of the weapons of the Amazons. The carvings and authenticity of the roof of the art piece give illustrations of the rank of the original owner of the art. The round shields represented at the end of the roof and the design of the roof gives a clear indication of the Roman Empire. The Romans over the size of the slaves, Amazons, and horses indicates of the ranks and position earned by representing the Romans during that time in different artwork. In addition, the slaves and trophies portrayed in the carving illustrate of the victories realized by the Roman militaries (Hölscher, 2013). The sculpture shows the available materials and the ancient way of doing art. The sculpture shows the gap that existed between the roman militaries and the Amazons.

The Burial of Roman People

The burial of Roman people in the ancient time was done in the sarcophagus that was made with marble or limestone depending on the person making the sculpture. The carving in the art symbolized the elite inhumation of a burial which was well characterized. The sarcophagus was meant for the wealthy people it was costly to the citizens earning less. The Roman culture had some believes that the sculpture had some special abilities to dissolve the dead body. This was the main reasons as to why the most wealthy men and women in those days would not settle for any other mode for burial. Rome began making some fortunes with this kind of the business by making the sarcophagus to another part of the world. The sculpture was relatively expensive but it was largely sold out to other parts of the world. Different artwork blended very perfectly with the most roman ideas (Hölscher, 2013).

The Transformation of Rome

Rome transformed greatly and excelled in different shapes and forms. Rome advanced their agriculture and began doing farming on large scale. The Roman citizens were also encouraged to develop more space for farming where they grew more crops for exports. The trade volume improved and the financial status also improved greatly.it is at this point where the commencement industrial production took place. Craftsmen dedicated their time on their work and produced quality products which were also on demand to other parts of the world. Rome became one of the most growing society and more classic buildings were constructed using the best construction materials (Taylor, 2013).The business grew to a point where the armories decide to employ more people to their workshop where most of them were the slaves.

The Roman Sculpture

The Roman preference and taste for the Greek sculpture by supplying the original pieces to them. The sarcophagus was the oldest sculpture compared to the sculptures that were initially done. Roman Beliefs and Achievements

The Roman belief was similar to the Greeks and they worshiped gods and goddesses. Additionally, they also worshiped some other lesser deities of that time just like their counterparts. They later introduced their own cults which later became the most famous thing in all parts of Rome. Different religion transitions took place and finally Christianity was greatly spread regardless of the fact that most Christians were being prosecuted. Consequently, the greatest achievement that took place after Rome rose to power was the construction engineering. Romans worked engineering skills and since they were more adventurous they achieved their vision. The Romans became one of the best and most skilled engineers of the time and which led to the construction of better roads and Romans building (Taylor, 2013). The roman science and technology advanced daily due.
