According to Laudon and Laudon (2017), the following are the implications of Emerson’s Process Management poor data quality.

Financial Losses

Poor data rises operational costs since time, and other resources are spent identifying and correcting errors, and it also causes loss of revenue whereby communications fail to convert to the total sales because the primary customer data is incorrect.

Satisfaction and Confidence Impacts

The inaccurate and redundant data on Emerson Process Management could lead to reduced employee performance and employee job satisfaction and less customer satisfaction due to poor customer service caused by the erroneous shipping and billing information.

Missed Opportunities

The company’s attempt to improve service will backfire because of all the inaccurate and wrong data about customer activity and may miss significant opportunities to develop new products or customers need that competitors with an established understanding of the data can take advantage of them.

Incorrect Decisions

The poor the data quality, the lower the confidence users will have in the outputs they produce because of the inconsistency in the managerial and operational reporting.

How to Prevent Poor Data Quality Problems

Data Quality Audit

The Company’s management should perform a data quality audit by analyzing the whole data records and samples from the data records to ascertain the level of completeness and accuracy of the data then come up with a better way to input the data and edit it if entered incorrectly (Laudon & Laudon, 2017).

Data Cleansing

The management should perform data scrubbing which involves finding and correcting invalid, incomplete and redundant data in the database. Through data cleansing, the company will be able to fix errors and ensure consistency of the data that came from the numerous transaction processing systems in Europe, Asia, and other locations around the world (Laudon & Laudon, 2017).
