Interactive learning

Diverse individuals participate in discussions and attempts to make sense of ideas in interactive learning. People utilize it to either share what they learned in class or to prepare for one. In this instance, a group of parents is made up of grownups who are listening to a single lecture about the Constitution. They must respect these rights not only for their own needs but also for the sake of their children. As a result, participation in relationships and learning is necessary. Think-pair-share exercises and debates rank among this class's top interactive learning activities (Brown University, 2017). This paper explores how these two interactive methods will help the parents absorb the details of the lesson and make a proper judgment based on these lessons for the guidance of their children.

Think-Pair-Share exercises

On the one hand, think-pair-share gives a chance to a learner to reflect on the question, and then share the details in groups. It is applicable in several instances where people have a common problem and want to understand the details of it (Brown University, 2017). In their groups, they ask each other questions and get answers. One person can write the notes and share them with the entire class (Brown University, 2017). Depending on the number of parents present during the Constitution Day, they can gather in a few groups, discuss and find out the problems their children need to understand about the document. Additionally, other parents who are expert at teaching the children political and constitutional issues can share their experience. For this session, 10 to 15 minutes is enough. After the discussions, a teacher should come with a general conclusion, which identifies the challenges and polishes them strategically.

Debates

On another hand, debates are helpful when there is a need to discuss a common problem. With the conversation, it is possible to identify essential issues in the certain area (Brown University, 2017). The reason for the discussion is to get both the individual experiences and group deliberations on a certain problem. Thus, the best preparations for debates are to provide the broad topic and some time to prepare individual presentations. The last point enables learners to do a search and present credible information (Brown University, 2017). The advantage of debates is that enables the gathering of the diverse points and information from various people and making it available for the whole class. As a result, shared information from a large group complements the teacher’s ideas and expands the knowledge of the problem.

In conclusion

think-pair-share and debates interactive learning activities assist teaching through the increase of interaction, sharing of information, making the teachers’ work less strenuous. While sitting in groups, people have freedom to reflect, articulate their ideas openly, and discuss them with the others. In this case, the work of a teacher is to polish these ideas and present a general knowledge to the class. At the same time, combining the strategies mentioned here with any other methods, like notetaking, can increase the chances of absorption even more.
