An executive order to support historically black colleges and universities was signed by President Trump on February 28. Section one directs the Attorney General to form a task force that will come up with laws and strategies to decrease crime and assess the effectiveness of criminal data collection and utilization systems.

By curbing illegal immigration, the legislation will significantly reduce the number of crimes committed by undocumented individuals whose statuses make them difficult to track down. It comes at a time when many people are criticizing the administration for failing to issue proper identification documents to immigrants which would otherwise give them legal access to critical social services.
