Introduction

Typically, mankind becomes tired of what they currently have and tries to acquire a different version of the same service or create a completely new service to replace the original one. Similarly, humans have evolved from using low-speed internet to using higher-speed internet. As with previous developments, this progression is typically incremental but certain. Internet rates range from second generation (2G) to third-generation (3G) to fourth generation (4G) (4G). Needless to mention, speeds are typically higher than previous generations. Currently, fifth generation (5G) networks are under development. The 5G wireless network is a high-speed network which is still under development. The network has great anticipation from the public due to the assurances they already have on it. The wireless network should have lots of implications on the communication sector including, some see 5G wireless network as a source of revolution in the communication industry. The public anticipates the evolution of communication via wireless data. Apart from that, the public also expects fewer or no transmission delays. Other people expect a whole set of new applications and technological development all around. In addition, other people look forward to the introduction of machines in the form of humans that will help humans perform their day to day activities which they would usually carry out by themselves. (Pretz, 2017).

Summary

With time somehow the human mind strives for either an improvised version of an already existing product or service or a newer product altogether which may be performing the same function entirely. This criterion is existent in several technological aspects of the human life. An instance is the development of automobiles which experiences growth regarding speed and structure gradually as time goes by to satisfy the human craving for comfort. Similarly, the internet undergoes several improvements so as to fit the individual comfort zone. Slowly over time the internet access speed changes for the better for personal appeal and to satisfy the human expectations. The internet speeds and connectivity developed from 2G networks to 3G networks. The 3G wireless network was faster than the previous 2G. 3G was the fastest during its time, but then with time it felt slower and gave rise to the need for higher Internet connectivity speeds. 4G wireless networks were the outcome of the desires of the public. 4G internet was expectedly faster than the previous two generations. The 5G wireless network is a type of fast speed wireless network that is currently under development. 5G means the fifth generation of wireless network and is the newest technology communication companies are trying to unveil. The technology will take over from the Fourth Generation (4G) wireless network currently in use. The significance of the 5G wireless network is the internet access speed it promises to give customers. The 5G network design follows the broadband communication standards referred to as the IEEE 802.11ac standards. Before the 4G wireless network, there have been 2G and 3G wireless networks. As the revolution of broadband communication advances the speed of internet access increases. It means that 5G has more capability to provide Internet access at much higher speeds than the 4G or 3G wireless networks. Ford et al. (2017) describe, “The proposed 5G wireless networks will be using high-frequency millimeter waves as a medium of propagation” (p. 197). Wong et al. (2017) also describe, “The desire to design the 5G wireless network came up due to the increased demand for more Internet access and wireless capability from the ever-growing population”. Other communication firms are using either massive MIMO, small cells, or beam-forming technologies to design the 5G wireless network.

Literature Review

Methodology: Implications of 5G wireless network in the communication sector

This research required a lot of access to the internet related established databases most of which contained most of the required information. The research was majorly from Science Direct, an established database which included most of the findings in the investigation. Apart from the established databases, research from other journals and scholarly articles were also under consideration. The journals contain research on 5G network technology and network advancements that are already under acknowledgment. In addition, other educational materials in the study comprised of other wireless networks from the IEEE portal. All the sources in this research are reliable sources some of which have a direct connection to the communication firms.

Gupta and Jah, in their article critically analyze the possible implications of the 5G wireless network in the communication sector. They arrive at the conclusions that the 5G network that the public highly anticipates will lead to even better quality services. Some of the technological development that the public expects are primarily the sharing of spectrum with the cognitive radio which is a highly advanced technology that can somehow air an individual's thoughts. Gupta's and Jah's developments all point towards a better communication sector (Gupta and Jah, 2015).

Brake Doug, in his 2016 article also to some extent, talks about the implications of the 5G network to the communication sector. He backs up his statement with research. Brake acknowledges the fact that 5G network provides a platform for stepping back and rethinking a new network. In other words, he says that the 5G wireless network will be the onset of something new that has not been in experience yet. He manages to create the anticipation to the general public and keeps all of his audience keenly looking forward to what is yet to come shortly, about three or four years to come (Brake, 2016).

In addition, the GSMA, which represents the interests of mobile operators, also talks about the 5G wireless network. It seeks to make clarifications on the 5G network in the technological sense. It also talks about the implications of the new system on mobile operators including the challenges. The GSMA states that the network speeds shall improve to a rate of 1 millisecond (Matalatala et al., 2017). It goes a long way to indicate how fast the speed rate will be in comparison to the previous 4G.

Conclusion

The research goes a long way in proving the thesis statement. From the research, it is definite that the 5G wireless network will be efficient and will be fast and convenient. It will also have extensive coverage. The research also shows that the system will lead to the structuring of humanoid structures which will serve in performing the day to day activities in place of the ordinary man. Evidently, the introduction of the 5G wireless network shall substantially boost the communication sector as it comes like a package to solve all the shortcomings in the communication industry. It shall revolutionize communication. The new wireless network shall boost the internet connectivity speeds which is what individuals mainly crave. It means that it will lead to the solution of a major problem. Despite the fact that this may seem perfect, it highlights some of the shortcomings of the 5G network. The construction of humanoids shall render most people jobless as they shall replace them. In addition, being computers, the humanoids have the ability to multitask. All in all, the fifth generation wireless networks will be a revolution not only in the communication sector but all areas and in life generally.
