Transfer for Electrical Engineering Program

What is the mystical power that causes radars to pick up a spacecraft? What manages to keep an aircraft flying despite its enormous size? Or how can a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier be fueled for months without having to land at the nearby port? As I observed a weapons carrier aircraft being loaded with its artillery at an air base, these were some of the urgent concerns that were running through my head. I couldn't control my interest after that because I had so many questions about what I had just seen and couldn't wait to find out the answers. On that day, about five years ago, was the first time I had seriously thought of the prospect of being an engineer. I could not be convinced otherwise and I decided to focus all my strength and energy to trying to become one.

In the early years of my life, I had previous interactions with engineers of various fields such as electrical, nuclear, mechanical and a few aeronautical and aerospace engineers. Often I would bombard them with questions on how they decided to join such professions and what was their driving force to become an engineer in their respective fields. I asked more about their duties and daily activities in their profession and if they enjoyed their occupation.

Something that intrigued me most was how they lit up whenever they gave their answers. Their responses were almost similar but the message was the same, they loved what they id and would never think of changing it for any other job at any point in their lives. The engineers highlighted on the great sacrifices that they made and the extensive amount of time it took them to get to their position but also decorated the satisfaction they felt after realizing their goal. They suggested taking a step and start doing my research on what I would like to do and register to a good college to realize my dreams.

I was heading home from about a three-month ‘workup’ underway introduction to a rather lengthy deployment that would soon follow, and immediately I got home, at the port of CA I was able to sign up for classes. Once I had docked I proceeded to the college office right away and began my college application for my dream career. The colleges at the base and those that were nearby had not quite started offering pre-engineering curriculum so I was forced to settle for a general studies program that would help me satisfy most of the core college courses. I was further deployed to the Persian Gulf where I was able to take more courses. During the deployments, a few professors were brought onboard and the Navy College Program Afloat for College Education (NCPACE) courses were offered. This continued for about three and a half years until I fulfilled my contract.

My years as a sailor have provided me with valuable lessons that have shaped me into the student I am today. I address this essay to show you the immense desire and sheer hard work I have in me to become an engineer and accomplish my goal. I love the profession and working as an engineer gives me the satisfaction of a child in a candy store. I would like a chance to transfer from your institution to further my studies and progress my career so that I can be among the top engineers in the country. If my request is accepted, it will reverberate as the best moment in my life for it will be a step in the right direction to realizing my dream. I want to be an engineer and no other purpose in life gives me greater joy.
