About British Architecture

Victorian describes the time span of Queen Victoria's reign, which lasted from 1837 to 1901. The industrial revolution, on the other hand, started in England between 1760 and 1840. The unrivaled technical process has defined the current era. The steam engine, locomotive, telegraph, telephone, electricity, light bulb, and photography were among the inventions. London, which was also the seat of the British empire at the time, grew to be the biggest metropolis in the world. In the century after the year 1800, the city's population increased from 1 million to 6.7 million. Slavery was abolished in the British Empire later that year, in 1883. From Queen House, Greenwich designed by Indigo Jones built in 1616 – 1619 and Bauhaus, Art School, Dessau, designed by Water Gropius, built 1925 – 1926

The house which is one of the classical architecture (Greek architecture and architecture of the ancient Rome) buildings. From classical architecture, to Modernist architecture, there were styles including Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Neoclassical, Empire style, Art Nouveau and Fascism before finally coming to Modernist architecture.

Examples of British architecture include Somerset House, The strand, William Chambers (1780 – 1815) which features the Nelson stair (earlier known as Navy Staircase). The staircase dramatically rises into the space over the drop to the ground floor. Apart from Sommers House, others include Terraced houses in Regent’s Street in Westminister which were built by Thomas Cubbit in the 1820s. Others include Park Crescent, near Regent's Park, London, circa 1825, All Souls Langham Place, 1823, John Nash (1752 – 1835) and The Royal Pavilion, Brighton, 1815-1822, John Nash
