Worldview

Worldview is a term used to explain how one sees reality; it can thus vary, although it is mostly affected by science and religion. Science focuses on the universe, including planets and living things, as well as how they interact, whereas religion focuses on spiritual ideas. This paper will attempt to clarify my worldviews, notably those concerning pluralism, spirituality, postmodernism, and scientism. It will also elaborate on my understanding of the term spirituality.

Spirituality

Spirituality is a broad concept with multiple perspectives that encompasses a sense of connection to something higher than people, which usually includes the search for life's meaning. It is a universal human experience that affects everyone. Another connotation of spirituality perceives it as something that is distinctive and cannot be compared to anything. Conventional views of spirituality denote it as a religious procedure that reforms with the aim of recovering the original shape of humans focused on the image of a Supreme Being. Some individuals find it in church, mosque, synagogue, or temple, while others pray or find comfort by building a personal relationship with God. On the other hand, some seek the meaning of life by connecting with art or nature. Due to the wide aspects of this term, it may change throughout life as one experiences new things and relationships. Regardless of the understanding, human spirituality is primarily founded on a Supreme Being (Reinert & Koenig, 2013).

Pluralism and Postmodernism

Pluralism is a concept that refers to having diverse views. It is characterized by four key elements i.e. the enthusiastic engagement with diversity, constant seeking of comprehension in the lines of differences, commitments, and founded on dialogue. In that regard, it involves understanding one another by embracing diversity with high tolerance to accommodate each other. Scientism, on the other hand, refers to the general applicability of scientific approaches to understand issues revolving around politics and human social matters. The term strives to emphasize more on natural science than culture among other branches of learning. Postmodernism has no definite connotation but may refer to the wide approaches developed during the mid-20th century in fields of art, criticism, architecture, and philosophy that marked the end of modernism. The era was marked by changes in how people perceive reality based on scientific concepts. It mainly focuses on the comprehension of reality that is beyond human understanding, and as such, the existence of ultimate theories in philosophy, religion, or science are overlooked (Naugle, n.d.).

Prime Reality and Nature of the World

Prime reality is the immeasurable; Personal God entailed in the Holy Scriptures and is triune, omniscient, good, sovereign, transcendent and immanent. Prime means importance while reality stands for existence, and therefore, prime reality elucidates on the existence of a Supreme Being. The nature of the world evidences creation. In other words, all that exists in this world emanates from a powerful Being that exerts control over the Earth. The manner in which it exists illustrates total orderliness. The natural phenomenon exhibits order as illustrated by the movement of the Earth, interchange of day and night among other aspects. However, the human nature is compounded by chaos as people do not exhibit the same order evidenced by nature. For example, countries are engaged in wars and evil continues to rise across the globe. Humans are also trying to change the natural phenomena thus leading to adverse effects on the natural environment. The natural phenomena are stronger than human-made phenomena as illustrated by the earthquakes, eruptions, and avalanches (Faye, 2012).

Human Beings and Death

A human being is a complex thing created in the image of God and is distinguished from the rest of the animals due to the upright stance, articulate speech, and mental development. Human beings resemble apes regarding their naked nature, but their superior brain development makes them unique. Death and the afterlife are complex terms that lack consistent theories. Biblically, what happens at death is contingent on a person’s deeds before death. There are only two categories of people i.e. the saved and the lost; hence, it plays a significant role in determining fate at death. The saved transform to a higher state in the presence of the Supreme Being, and the lost experience an endless conscious punishment.

Knowing anything, Concept of Right or Wrong, and Human History

It is in human nature to explore and discover other things. Humans cannot entirely quench their thirst when it comes to exploration, primarily because we are created in the image of an all-knowing God. Different cultures and faiths arrive at varying conclusions on what can be regarded as the truth due to the rejection of the principle of absolute truth. Truth is a relative aspect that is dependent on the individuals or groups sharing particular concepts. Furthermore, our cognizance of what is right or wrong is primarily influenced by the human choice. Similarly, different theories have been adopted to explain what is right or wrong, with some implying that the society sets the bar when determining the same. Nonetheless, even with the different theories, deep inside us, we can tell what is good or evil. We are created in such a manner that we can differentiate what is wrong and right even at tender ages; thus, implying that a Supreme Being bestowed this aspect in us. The meaning of human history is to realize and serve God’s purpose that entails glorifying Him. Through human history, God has been revealing His salvation and restoration plan. As the Bible teaches, human history comprises life, death, and resurrection.

Conclusion

In conclusion, comprehending the worldviews is a complex process due to the amount of evidence provided by different people. Some notions base their assertions on scientific evidence while others believe in a Supreme Being, a powerful force that exerts control over all species. The question of whether God exists is a prominent one in the field of philosophy and demands in-depth research to comprehend the same. However, since no theory is absolute, humans are left to believe in what they deem to be true.
