Hari Mandir

Located near the Amrit Sarovar, the Hari Mandir is the most sacred part of the temple complex. This amazing temple complex was built by the fifth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji. The temple is built in the form of a temple in the middle of a large pool of water. This mystical body of water is called Amrit Sarovar, which means ’holy pool of immortal nectar’.

The temple is constructed using gold plated creating. The walls are adorned with beautiful Islamic-style floral patterns. The structure is also decorated with paragraphs from the Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy book.

The temple is known as the Golden Temple in western media. However, it is now officially called the Harmandir Sahib. This temple is located in Amritsar, Punjab, India. It was originally called the Golden Temple by the Muslim saint, Sanyen Mian Meer, who laid the foundation stone of the structure in 1588.

The Golden Temple at Amritsar is considered to be the spiritual centre of Sikhs. It is also a symbol of equality and unity.

Jallianwala Bagh

Sri Guru Ramdasji International Airport

Located in the city of Amritsar, Punjab, Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport is the busiest airport of Punjab. It is a multi-modal airport which is connected to international and domestic destinations. The airport is named after the fourth Sikh Guru, Guru Ram Das.

The airport is a CAT III ILS (Integrated Landing System) compliant facility. It has a runway of 3658 meters which is divided into two sections. The main runway has a width of 45 meters. The apron has been enhanced to accommodate 14 aircraft.

The airport has a capacity to cater to 600 passengers at arrival. The terminal building is spread over 40,000 square metres. It is equipped with four X-ray scanners for baggage, 26 immigration counters, 12 security check booths and 30 check-in counters. It also has a dedicated space for first-class passengers.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has developed the airport with modern amenities and facilities. It has built an integrated terminal with a capacity of 18 domestic and 7 international flights. The new terminal building is made of glass and steel and has various world-class facilities.
