Significance events alongside sacred journey

The purpose of the holy journey is often to gently embrace persons in their final moments of life, along with their loved ones, with competent medical treatment and emotional support. Palliative care for people with life-threatening disorders or illnesses is also part of the sacred journey. It also improves quality of life by lowering sickness symptoms. Recent research has shown that patients who receive palliative care in addition to normal therapies live longer (Mayo Clinic)

In addition to performing sacred journey in nursing, other experiences are gained that benefit nursing skills. Taking care of people, in the end, stage their illnesses may give me more skills on how to be patient. Patience is always a role that should be practiced by all medical physicians to become more ethical when handling patients. By taking care of the patient, you gain the courage of handling any person. Courage is always required when treating patients because you know what they want and what to give them. Through this, you are also able to improve your skills which is an essential aspect of practicing medicine.

In practice of sacred journey of the patient, the care is directed to the patient. This is because the patient is our central goal. Doctor's obligations to show respect for human life is usually advocated. To protect the health of the patient, to treat the patient with dignity, and to make the care of the patient your priority is a way of showing great concern to the patient's health (Good Medical Practice, 2006). The relationship between the patient and the medical practitioner is usually should be mutual and trust build up between the two. When a patient has a good relationship with the doctor or the nurse, they place their life into their hand with the hope that they will be taken very care off. Patients who are approaching their life illness, high-quality treatment is needed for them. Therefore, it is always essential to provide moral support to them so that they can live longer until they die with their dignity. It is crucial to value being honest and open to your patient. Act with integrity and act without delay if you believe some of your colleagues are putting your patient at risk. Don't abuse your patient's trust in you or public's trust in the profession. Therefore, it is essential to know that you will always be accountable for your professional practice and must always be prepared to justify your decisions and actions (Good medical practice, 2006). So your patient should be your priority.

Mentorship

Leadership is always associated with mentorship which influences the growth of nurse in the medical profession. Mentoring is associated with empowering connections that offer a dynamic guided experience to promote growth and development between job and personal life. Participants' life journeys provide experiences that develop their understandings and their life establishment. Heidegger's, 2014 reports that temporal dimensions of the past, present and the future influences and shapes the development of a nurse to become a good leader. Mentorship incorporates a unique connection that involves mutual sharing of ideas, learning from others and also acquiring knowledge that influences personal growth and transition (Darwin 2008, Thompson, Wolf and Sabatine, 2012).

Learning from mentors gives one a sense of exposure to specific human qualities including nurturing behaviors during the early stages of life and nursing careers. It also influences the personal growth of a young nurse, shape some of their actions and their beliefs. Mentors advise nurses on the importance of attending conferences that are medical-related because they help one to know the significance of practicing good medicine to take good care of the patients.

Nursing career up to date

Nursing as a career enables the involved practitioner practice proper care to the patient. A palliative care nurse ensures that life support is given to this patient in palliative care because they need a lot of encouragement that all will be well with them. In palliative care, a nurse ensures alleviation of distress through symptom control and paying attention to the patient's psychological problems. It is essential to ensure that there is improved and coordinated communication between the patient and the nurse. Moral support to the patients and the relatives is vital to taking care of patients with long-term illnesses. This gives them hope that they can recover and get back to their daily activities.

Plans, dreams, and goals

A palliative care nurse goals may include; relief of pain and suffering to the patient. They also ensure that they promote good health in these patients by guaranteeing good care and moral support is provided. It is also essential to reduce the rate of disease occurrence in these patients (Callahan, 1998). It is also your goal as a nurse to provide peaceful death for these patients in the terminal illnesses. The dreams of a palliative care nurse are to see that they have practiced an excellent job in taking care of these patients. They also dream of improving their medical skills that will help them treat patients and promote good health. It is crucial to ensure your working environment as a nurse is conducive to you and your patient.
