Women in Islam

One could be inclined to wonder if Islam treats women unfairly as a religion. It appears that Muslim women today display themselves while wearing antiquated clothing and a scarf wrapped around their heads. This perspective gives the idea that we are returning to a "model" Islam that was fair to women. In his post, Leila Ahmed reiterates a distinct point of view to the current discussion concerning women and Islam by going from the religion's historical inception to the present. Although the Islamic faith has been around for a while, women have a say in how it develops.

On the topic of women and sex, Leila Ahmed takes on a fairly ambitious project. She sheds light on the societal views and structures, such as love, sex, marriage, divorce, sexuality, and having babies out of wedlock that has shaped the experience of Muslims (Ahmed 22). Ahmed’s book is a blend of history and social critique that is both exceedingly informative and readable (Ahmed 21). However, this article categorically examines the discourse of sex in the Islamic religion.

The female members experience harsh life in some Arab nations. According to Ahmed (16), the cruel way of life to which the women in Islamic religion in the Middle East are exposed to is due to the liking of male explanations of Islamic religion and not Islam parse. She even criticizes the efforts of conflicting groups as being found in a mix-up of dissertations suggested by the West (Ahmed 17). Thus, the cultural traditions have supported this kind of relationship between males and females.

In short, the a focus on aspects, like sex, marriage, divorce, sexuality, and having babies out of wedlock have shaped the Islamic religion. Although women experienced a harsh life, their family and religious customs supported the practices of men before making them dominant. Therefore, Islamic spiritual practices have evolved but mainly in favor of men.
