The seven signs (miracles) of John's Gospel

Jesus serves 5,000 people. (John 6:5-14). He provides them with food and bread to consume. Then he continues, "I am the bread of life," (John 6:35). They won't ever go hungry again, he assures them, and he will give them sustenance that will never spoil. Jesus was saying that he is crucial to having everlasting life. Jews are prompted to think spiritually rather than in terms of their daily lives by this remark. Jesus intended to convey that he is the spiritual food that keeps us alive.

Jesus brings Lazarus back to life. (John 11:1-45). Then he says that he is the bread of life (John 6:35). He promises to offer them food that will never spoil and they will never go hungry again. Jesus meant that he is very significant in eternal life. This statement makes the Jews reason into the spiritual realm away from the physical life. Jesus meant that he is the spiritual bread which sustains us.

Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead (John 11:1-45). Then he says that he is the resurrection and the life (John 11:25-26). His followers will not taste death. This symbolizes Jesus' power over death and guarantee for eternal life.

Jesus heals people at the Pool of Bethesda (John 5:1-15). Jesus says that he is the way the truth and the life (John 14:6). No one goes to the father except through Jesus. Jesus meant that one cannot be saved except through Him. This reveals that we do not have any hope or help without Jesus.

Jesus heals the official's son (John 4:46-54). Jesus says that he is the door of the sheep and that if anyone enters by him he will be saved through faith and will go in and out and find pasture (John 10:9). Jesus gives us access to his glory.

Jesus heals the man born blind (John 9:1-7). Jesus spoke to the people telling them that he is the light of the world (John 8:12). Whoever follows Him will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. Jesus is the spiritual answer to all problems.

Jesus walks on water (John 6:16-21). Jesus says that he is the good shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep (John 10:11). This symbolizes how Jesus is ready to sacrifice his life for the sake of others been the good shepherd he is.

Jesus turns water into wine (John 2:1-11). Jesus says he is the true vine (John 15:5). This reveals that Jesus came to deliver us from the empty way of our religion into a happy and everlasting life with him full of joy.
