Research: Broadening the Body of Knowledge

Research is a creative endeavor that is carried out methodically to broaden the body of knowledge, which includes knowledge of society, culture, and people. The new application is created using the acquired information. New theories are created through research, which also serves to support theorems, solve problems both old and new, and corroborate facts. Because of research, a person is able to learn more about a specific subject. (Hill, Kylie). There are many different types of research, including scientific, technical, practitioner, marketing, business, social, and economic.

Investigating Online Schooling

I decided to investigate online schooling. The online education has become an integral part of the current education all over the world. The online form of education presents numerous merits and demerits. One of the primary reason why many people resort to online education is that of the cost factor. The online education system tends to be cheaper when compared to the traditional form of education.

Reliance on Secondary and Tertiary Sources

My research relied on the secondary sources. The secondary sources are usually an analysis, synthesis, evaluations, and discussions of the primary sources. My main sources of information included the reference material such as textbooks, encyclopedia, and the book's articles that synthesize, review, and interpret the original field work. I also used the tertiary sources; those used to locate the primary sources. Some of the tertiary sources included the databases; these are the online indexes that can include a digital copy of the primary source. The tertiary sources also played a vital role in referencing because they provided a full identity with important details such as the article title, page number used, issue number, publisher and publication date and the book title. Both the sources were quite important because they formed a basis and a confirmation of my research findings.

Utilizing the Google Scholar Database

In my research paper I relied on the google scholar database, this database enables the scholar to find a specific literature that includes technical reports, abstracts, preprints, books, thesis and the peer reviewed papers. I also relied on the google scholar database to find articles from a wide variety of universities, pre-print repositories, professional societies, and academic publishers. The google scholar is important for scholars because it offers user thousands of academic material that can increase their knowledge base as well as enhancing research. The user can quickly search for the information they need.

Rejection of Sources and the Importance of Research

During my research, I rejected various sources for different reasons. Some of the sources were not peered- reviewed and could not, therefore, be relied upon in my research. Some of the sources also presented results that were trivial, predictable, and unoriginal and could be relied on. Some of the journals had used methods that were absolute in collecting and analyzing data because of the new technology meaning that they were inaccurate and unreliable. In other sources that information had no practical, theoretical, or clinical implication. Other reasons for rejection included nonconformance to ethical policies and salami publication.

The Benefits of Research

In conclusion, seizing the opportunity to do research can raise awareness, broaden one's social skills, and secure the support required to excel a particular project. Indeed research in increases my knowledge base critical in making life decisions. Research emboldens living productively, participating in meaningful causes and self-growth. The research entails both writings as well as reading; these two literacies are crucial in both comprehension and computation.
